Coiniverse - 2022 it’s a wrap

2022 has been a busy year for Team Coiniverse.

We have improved the service, added more coins and mints to our platform, and experimented a bit with something new by releasing our first digital collectible coin.

Altogether it has been 36 version releases for the app during this year – the latest one including improvements in the coin loading times, notification enhancements and easier browsing of coins in your own collection. Our major release in the spring included the coin values that are part of our subscription service - if you have not tried this one yet, it’s a free trial for 7 days, so no risk involved.

New mints, coins and users

The main focus in Coiniverse is our coin database and the stories of the coins. During 2022 the number of coins in our database has also been rising from around 80.000 to over 100.000 pieces. We keep on adding new coins constantly – both from those suggested by our users but also from our member mints and other partners. During 2022 we had three new mints joining us – Münze Deutschland, Vera Valor from France and the Mint of Italy.

Coiniverse has over 80.000 registered users and more than 100.000 coins in the database

During 2022 we tripled the amount of our registered users and have bypassed the 80.000 threshold just before Christmas. It’s really nice to see that so many collectors have found Coiniverse and are enjoying the stories of the coins and also sharing their collections with other Coiniverse users. The average engagement time per session is over seven minutes, so we are providing interesting content and will continue to do so during 2023.

Users from all over the world

Coiniverse users come from all over the world – there is only less than ten countries from which we do not have any users at all, such as Sudan, Gabon, Nicaragua and Guyana. It would be great to cover all the countries in near future! Most users we have from France, Italy, Spain, USA and Portugal. Fastest growth in users we on the other hand have from Cyprus, Italy, Greece and Belgium. Half of our users are between 35-54 years old and quite the experts with over 15 years of experience. We have also attracted newbies, as around third of the users have been collecting coins for less than 5 years.

The collections

Most of Coiniverse users collect both circulation and commemorative coins. From other type of collectibles roughly one-third collect banknotes and around 20% also medals. These pieces add up to rather large collections, nearly 10% have collections of over 5.000 coins and around one-third have collections of over 500 coins. The different perspectives of collecting are quite equal in popularity. Apart from the coin type, important perspectives are country of origin, theme or motif and time period. In addition, coin value and currency are rather popular perspectives for our users. Even though majority of users come from Europe they tend to collect from all over the world and not only euros, which is often the misconception about European collectors.

What’s ahead

Let’s have a brief look at what will be happening during 2023. We’re expecting to get many new mints onboard – this is great news as we get more coins with enriched and mint validated information to the database. We concentrate on improving the user experience, especially the coin adding flow and the scanner functionality. Subscription is going to include more benefits and more data – we want to create a Coiniverse Club for our most active users and give them even more reasons to love Coiniverse.

And of course – we aim to get the word out to many new Coiniverse users out there. If you like what we’re doing, give us a helping hand and tell your peers about the service. The more users we have, the better service we can provide and the merrier are also our social features. And as always, if there is something that is missing, tell us and we see what we can do about it. We want to make coin collecting more fun and more social together with our great users!
