80 years of freedom
The year 2025 marks a particularly poignant moment, as the last age group to have served in the war turns 100 years old, and it will be 85 years since the end of the Winter War. We also focus on 80 years of freedom since World War II. With this special release, we not only commemorate the veterans but also express gratitude to their spouses who supported them during those difficult years. Honor Finland’s veterans by adding this meaningful collector’s coin to your collection!
Design by Tapio Kettunen
The coin was designed by Tapio Kettunen, who really focused on the past, the present and the future. If you look closely, in the design you will find the profile of a war veteran on the left, and that of a soldier on the right. They represent the war veterans of 1939 – 1945 and the soldiers of today. On the far right, there is a profile on a young person is shown: this represents the future of the country and the hope that there never have to be war veterans again. The coin can be ordered on www.helsinkimint.com.
